turn your frown upside down

this is something new i'm trying.
it's two different characters but they are made up of one picture, so if you flip it around there is another character.
the characters are also quite contradicting, which makes it fun and different.
i think this is a very cool poster idea, because instead of just one artwork you will have two, and you can change them whenever you feel like it.
in this poster there is a rat / mouse and the other is a happy little man.
rats are like the dirty underbelly of our city we don't like seeing them but yet they are everywhere, we happily avoid these creatures.
everyday on the street you just see happy people blissfully unaware of what is beneath our feet.
i think this poster is a good representation of that.

love ternative logo

love ternative magazine had a logo competition.
this was one of the logo's i submitted, and it was chosen as the winning logo.
i'm really happy with this logo, it's complex yet simple and it works big and small.
i feel it suits the magazine perfectly.

final destination

today i saw this dead bird lying on the sidewalk, it was so sad yet so normal and beautiful.
it was sad to think that this poor bird never reached it's final destination but it did reach the final destination of life.
i decided to do a series on dead birds, and i'm calling it final destination.
because as beautiful as some of them are, they are just as provoking and evocative.
we hardly ever even notice these poor creatures they just get ignored.
we should all realize how precious life is and how few moments we have in it.

i'm doing this series in inks on water colour paper.

emily strange fan art

currently there is a competition running for fan art for emily strange.
i'm entering this piece.
i really love this illustration.
i used ink and water to do this illustration.
it was a lot of fun doing all the different layers.
but i enjoyed it a lot, definitely one of my favourites.
