sewing illustrations

these are a couple of 50's theme illustrations that i did using sewing and water colours.

i sewed the outlines with black thread and then used one spot colour to add some colour to the illustrations.

these illustrations were used in my thesis for college.

my thesis was all about 50's design.

i really enjoyed doing these illustrations.

i love sewing and making things with my hands, i find it really stimulating.

my one lecturer used to say, it's all about craft and concept.

in this modern day and age we shouldn't just do everything on the computer, it is merely a tool, hand work and computer work should be combined to make a beautiful end product.

old and new work together so beautifully.

embrace the past, because if we don't know where we come from we won't know where we are going.
